What We Attend To

Three focused services, each performed with the care a timepiece warrants.

Movement cleaning

Service 01

Movement Cleaning and Regulation

For watches that have begun to drift in accuracy, wind reluctantly, or show an inconsistent power reserve, this service addresses the root cause. Each movement is disassembled, cleaned ultrasonically, and inspected component by component. Fresh oils are applied throughout all friction points, and the balance is regulated across six positions. A timing certificate accompanies your watch on return.

  • Ultrasonic movement cleaning
  • Full component inspection and lubrication
  • Six-position regulation with timing certificate
  • Typical completion: 7–10 working days

Case back and gasket service

Service 02

Case Back and Gasket Service

This service focuses on the integrity of the case back seal — an area often overlooked until moisture has already entered. We remove the case back carefully, measure existing gaskets, replace them with correctly-sized new ones, clean the thread, and retorque everything to specification. Particularly worthwhile for watches worn near the sea or in Penang's humid conditions.

  • Precise gasket measurement and replacement
  • Thread cleaning and retorquing to spec
  • Suitable for humid or coastal environments
  • Typical completion: 1–3 working days

Clasp and bracelet adjustment

Service 03

Clasp and Bracelet Adjustment

A bracelet that fits well makes a watch a pleasure to wear. We handle link removal or addition, clasp tightening, pin replacement, and thorough cleaning of the metal bracelet. Fold-over, butterfly, and diver extension clasps are all within scope. Sizing is done to your measured wrist — bring it in and we'll have it ready before you leave, in most cases.

  • Link addition or removal to fit your wrist
  • Clasp tightening and pin replacement
  • Fold-over, butterfly, diver clasps all welcome
  • Usually completed same day

Why Bring Your Watch to Pendulaire

Thoughtful workmanship, honest communication, and no unnecessary upselling.

Component-Level Inspection

Each service begins with a careful assessment. We look at what actually needs attention — not what might generate the largest invoice.

Period-Appropriate Lubricants

We use manufacturer-recommended oils matched to movement type and age, applied in the quantities the design specifies — not what's quickest.

Service Documentation

Movement cleaning and regulation includes a timing certificate. You'll know what was done and how the watch was performing when it left.

Straightforward Communication

We explain findings in plain terms before proceeding. If a watch would cost more to service than it's worth, we'll tell you that directly.

Has Your Watch Been Waiting Long Enough?

Whether it's losing time, needs a fresh gasket, or simply hasn't had a service in years — bring it in. We'll take a look and let you know what's needed.

Questions We Hear Often

How do I know if my watch needs servicing?
Common indicators include accuracy drift of more than a minute per day, resistance when winding, a shorter power reserve than usual, or visible moisture under the crystal. That said, even a watch that appears to be running well can benefit from cleaning and lubrication every 4–6 years — oil breaks down with time regardless of wear.
Do you service both mechanical and quartz movements?
Yes, we work on both. Mechanical movements — manual wind and automatic — typically benefit most from cleaning and regulation. Quartz movements also require lubrication and can be regulated, though battery replacement intervals matter more for their longevity. Contact us with the specifics of your watch and we'll advise accordingly.
What's the typical turnaround time?
It varies by service. Bracelet adjustments are usually done same day. Gasket service takes 1–3 working days. Movement cleaning and regulation — which requires disassembly, cleaning, and a settling period for regulation — takes 7–10 working days. If your situation is time-sensitive, mention it when you contact us and we'll see what's feasible.
Can I get an assessment before committing to a service?
Certainly. Bring your watch in and we'll take a look. For movement work, we'll discuss what we find and give you a clear picture of what the service involves and costs before anything is taken apart. We don't proceed without your agreement.
Do you handle vintage or older watches?
Older watches are welcome, though we'll be candid if parts are unavailable or if the condition makes a full service impractical. Some vintage pieces require sourcing period-compatible materials, which can affect timing and cost. We'd encourage you to bring it in for an initial look.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and major bank transfers. Card payment is available in the workshop. Payment is collected on collection of the finished watch, not in advance.
